I've been writing for over 30 years - at one time it was my full-time career, but as one grows and develops things change; I was no exception. I left journalism when community newspapers began to focus more on profits and less on the importance of preserving a community's history.
I spent the next seven years in hospitality sales and marketing (no, I couldn't believe the shift either!), but the onset of Covid-19 in early 2020 virtually destroyed the company's business model and I became an economic victim of the pandemic.
After a great deal of reflection and continuing to ask myself "how can I best help others?", the answer kept coming back to writing, and more specifically legacy writing, biographies and business histories.
My passion for legacy writing comes from writing family memorials. I wrote my sister's memorial with her prior to her death in 2016, and I wrote my mother's memorial after her sudden death in 2019. Both were fitting tributes, but my sister's memorial was a direct reflection of her, while my mother's memorial was a collection of what others remembered about her.
